Directions
Leon and Karen Pommer were here in 2006 and 2011. We will see them again in 2016. Their son is now a Lieutenant Colonel, so Leon has stopped repairing cats and dogs.
We'll meet on Friday night, July 8th at 6 PM at The Coal Creek Golf Course, 585 W Dillon Road, Louisville 80027.
Saturday, July 9th, at 9 a.m. there will be a tour at the original Fairview (now Platt).

You can enter Boulder Country Club only from the East at 75th Street and Clubhouse Road, north of Jay Road, south of Lookout Road.
Unless you are a Boulder Country Club Member you cannot get there from the West on Idylwild Trail or Carter Trail, at least not without a Secret Decoder Ring for the Stupid Electronic Gate...

Radek Cerny used to have the old European Cafe in the Arapahoe Village Shopping Center, which was probably Boulder's best restaurant for many years. HE then branched out into Denver, and Niwot, and finally has landed again in Boulder. This place has his signature foods, sense of style and old European character that makes it well worth the time and price to visit. You probably need reservations, since it is another really small place in the new fine restaurant center of town, east Pearl Street.

Lucille's is an old Boulder tradition that keeps on going strong. There are lines there for breakfast on Sunday. It is a Cajun Restaurant, and it is a good one, set in an old house with a glassed in porch and rickety stairs to the upper rooms. Crowded and fun, and the food holds up each time.

Second coming of a beautiful glass walled corner room across the street from The Mediterranean Restaurant, the wildly successful sister to this cosmopolitan creation by the same owner, Joe Romano, whose prior life includes having taken Domino's Pizza from a thousand to a hundred thousand outlets. This means he is rich enough to make really good restaurants, and he has here, as well as at The Med. Nice bar, good food, good wine, okay service, just a little pretentious, but that's nothing Boulder isn't getting accustomed to.

Serviceable Mexican food in a great building, but everyone really comes to drink Margaritas, with a limit of three that most can't get to anyway. Fun place to be with a larger crowd, and all of you have to be there at the same time to be seated, but you can always hang out in the bar with the rest of the derelicts. It is fun to be at The Rio.

The Broker Inn and Restaurant were sold recently, used to belong to Carole Parker and Fred Borra and Ed Novak in its heyday. Now, it is a dowdy sort of place, but the rooms are still decorated individually, and the restaurant still impresses people with its tufted old wood ambience and the food is good to excellent, especially the Sunday brunch, which remains the best food deal in town. Good for power lunch and worth trying at dinner, especially if you are staying at the Hotel, but then, if you are doing that, you probably ought to go out, so they do have a dilemna. This is also where we will meet for Friday Happy Hour, July 21, 2006.
